Local Lib Dems push for new play area

October 1, 2020 1:09 PM

Simon DowlingLocal Lib Dems are campaigning for a new play area for Horsforth.

At a recent Town Council meeting, Lib Dem Town Councillor Simon Dowling laid down a motion to make available funds from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) for some new community facilities. For example for a play area. The CIL is a charge that local authorities can set on new developments.

The Town Council will be setting up a working group to progress this. The Lib Dems will be pushing for a new play area at this working group.

Councillor Simon Dowling said: "With more and more houses being built locally, there is extra demand for another play area. The Hall Park play area is extremely popular, (I know, I take my kids there all the time!) so it would be great if we could have another one. There is a site between the bowling club and Miller and Carter, on Low Lane, that we think would be perfect for a new play area."
