While results for the Liberal Democrats across the country were variable, locally the party enjoyed success and progress.
In the election for the City Council, Brian Cleasby retained the seat with an increased majority of 2800, one of the highest held the Liberal Democrats in Horsforth. Cllr Cleasby commented on the result that this gave him a "stronger mandate to take on those who wish to take advantage of Horsforth and Rawdon."
Progress was also made in the General Election seat of Pudsey. Jamie Matthews vote increased by nearly 2000, despite the closeness of the other two parties. "It was great to see our vote increase across the Pudsey Constituency, " said Jamie, while thanking "everyone who voted for me and thanks to everyone who helped my campaign"
